--IMPORTANT!-- These instructions specifically apply to a Standalone Computer:
If you are not sure whether the affected computer is:
- A Client or
- A Standalone, or
- A Server
…please determine this first before proceeding with the steps below because the solution involves installing a specific release of version 11 and you may be running another release on another machine or may even be running version 12 on another machine that shares the same data with the software running on your machine.
--CAUTION!-- Often, people think that just because they are the only [user] of the software that the data must exist on their computer. Even if you are the only [user] of the software, your data may actually exist on another computer or on your server. If this turns out to be the case, then the software also exists on that other computer or server and your computer would be considered to be a Client Workstation rather than a Standalone Computer.
So, it is possible to actually have the software running on a server or [other] computer that is hosting your data [and] have the software on your computer that is accessing the data on the [other] machine. In this type of situation, the computer hosting the data is considered to be the server and the computer that is only [using] the data is considered to be a Client Workstation.
How to Verify whether this machine is a Server or a Client or a Standalone:
1. Go to C:\ProgramData\Gradience and open the Hrware.ini file.
2. Very near the top, you will see a line that begins with...
Server= ...Whatever follows the equal sign is the computer hosting the data.
If you see anything other than the word Localhost, it means that your machine is a Client Workstation. If you discover that your computer is actually a Client Workstation instead of a Standalone Computer, please click here to access the correct instructions.
If you see the word Localhost following the equal sign means that this machine is hosting the data in which case you have ruled out a Client Workstation but you could be a Standalone or a Server because [both] host the data. The difference is a Standalone is the [only] computer [using] the software while a Server is sharing the data with Gradience installed on [other] computers.
If you know of anyone else who can access the same data as you by using Gradience on his/her computer, then that other person is using Gradience on his/her computer as a Client workstation, and you are running Gradience on your computer as a Server. In this case, you must click here to access the correct instructions.
A True Standalone Computer:
If it turns out that you truly are running Gradience as a Standalone where your computer is hosting the data and you are not using the software anywhere else, you may proceed with the instructions below.
Version 12 Users
This issue has been resolved with our latest Version 12 build. Update your software to our latest release 12.18.1214.15.
Version 11 Users
If you have been using Version 11 along:
1. Go into Services and stop Firebird.
2. Go to Programs and Features and uninstall Firebird and Gradience [if you see them].
3. Go to C:\Program Files and delete the firebird folder [if you see one].
4. Go to C:\Program Files (x86) and delete the firebird folder [if you see one].
5. Go to C:\ProgramData and delete the firebird folder [if you see one].
6. Please click here to reinstall Gradience as a Standalone.
